Calling All Prince Charmings

Calling All Prince Charmings - Silly Daddy webcomic by Chiappetta
"Mom, what should I wear to the costume party?" asked my son. "Anna already has a Cinderella dress. What do I get?"

My little daughter replied, "You get to be my prince charming."

If you were expecting big laughs, I hope that you will agree that large amounts of "Aw, that's so sweet," are just as valuable in comix. Living in a household with three females makes me be all sensitive to moments like that.

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Conduits Pocket Artist drawing program.

Thanks go to my wife for texting a version of this true family fairytale to me. You might say that this is a Halloween webcomic, however, some aspects of Halloween give me the creeps, so I prefer to think of this as an Autumn webcomic.

I Am The Best Cartoonist On The Planet

I Am The Best Cartoonist On The Planet - Silly Daddy webcomic by Joe Chiappetta
Do you wonder how to be the best cartoonist? This comic is for you!
Boldly go where no cartoonist has gone before...

At new citizen orientation on a far away planet, when it was a foreigner's turn to state a purpose for taking residence on the new planet, the man declared, "I'm going to be the best cartoonist on your planet!"

A resident knowledgeable of the planet's culture explained, "But all our citizen cartoonists gave up their webcomic careers and went to work at virtual reality companies. The pay is better."

At that, the man lit up and gloated, "See, I told you I'd be the best!"

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Conduits Pocket Artist program.

If you are guessing that this comic has something to do with the science fiction novel I have been writing for many years... you're right.

The Pure Pumpkin Patch

The Pure Pumpkin Patch - Silly Daddy webcomic by Chiappetta
This is a a poetic, experimental, and seasonal comic.

My wife and son sat on hay bales at the local pumpkin patch. The cool dry air was quiet and peaceful as I thanked God for my family.

SUDDENLY, a few teenagers in scary Halloween costumes ran by. Their appearance somewhat disturbed my little son. Kids can be so pure-hearted.

Webcomic is a digital drawing by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on iPAQ Pocket PC, colored in Flash and edited in GIMP program running Microsoft Windows XP on HP computer. Other programs used include Microsoft Office and Microsoft Paint as well as Notepad. Perhaps it's obvious, but I do like experimenting with screen shots as comics.

The name of the pumpkin patch was Sonny Acres Farm in West Chicago, Illinois., which I most certainly recommend.

Who Am I? Asks Silly Daddy

Who Am I? Asks Silly Daddy
In the quiet dark of night, a husband has a moment of deep thought and says, "I finally understand the depths at which God has blessed me... with my wife, my son, my job, even the house we live in. And it's humbling, you know, because, who am I?"

"Yeah," replies his wife with a smile, "who are you?"

Webcomic by Joe Chiappetta 2009, is drawn on HP desktop computer running Windows XP using Microsoft Expression, Adobe Illustrator program, and a Wacom tablet.

This comic depicts an old friend of mine, and his wife. Ironically, I truly don't know who he is anymore. For an unknown reason, he doesn't return my calls.

President Obama Stuns Webcomics Community With Yet Another Award

President Obama Stuns Webcomics Community With Yet Another Award - Silly Daddy comic by Chiappetta
This comic is in no way a commentary on the Nobel Peace Prize that I didn't win recently. Barack Obama, this comic is for you!

Silly Daddy approached the commander in chief and said, "Mr. President, congratulations! I heard you got awarded the highest honor in the universe: The Peace Prize."

"Yes, thank you," replied the president. "Additionally, I just found out that I've also been nominated for Best New Webcomic Artist."

Amazed and perplexed, Silly Daddy declared, "But... you're not a cartoonist. You've never made any webcomics in your entire life!"

"Apparently, that doesn't matter," replied the president.

No Heartbeat for Silly Daddy

No Heartbeat for Silly Daddy - webcomic by Joe Chiappetta
While playing with my children one afternoon, I started to lean closer to my daughter and said, "I want to listen to your heartbeat."

"No!" she replied as she held up her little hand abruptly and put it in my ear. "Listen to my hand beat."

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Conduits Pocket Artist program.

Having nothing to do with the plot of this comic, is there a random bunny in the background because I am a webcomic geek or because my daughter likes bunnies? You decide.

The Curious March of Silly Daddy

The Curious March of Silly Daddy - webcomic by Chiappetta
File this under "When Faithful Turns Funny."

One morning I said to my little girl, "I'm going to sing you a song that I like: We are marching in the light of God. We are marching in the light of God!"

I repeated this verse five times to my daughter until, with great curiosity, she asked, "Then what happened?"

Webcomic by Joe Chiappetta 2009 is a digital drawing on Samsung Q1 Ultra Mobile PC in ArtRage program running Microsoft Windows XP. Thanks go to Hilarie Donnelly for arranging this incredible song at church.

No Throwing Things--Again

No Throwing Things--Again - Silly Daddy webcomic by ChiappettaClick on image to view full size. File this comic under "Fun things to do with a TV remote."

My little daughter threw a big Samsung TV remote control at my son's little head. I quickly exclaimed, "No throwing things! Do you understand, yes or no?"

My daughter replied in all sincerity, "Yes or no."

Webcomic is a digital drawing by Joe Chiappetta in ArtRage program, edited in GIMP and Adobe Illustrator, 2009. An earlier version of this cartoon exists also, but this version is the super-horizontal version that also doubles as a banner ad.

Pronoun the Illiterate Clown

Pronoun the Illiterate Clown - Silly Daddy webcomic by Chiappetta
Silly Daddy is stomping out illiteracy one stupid laugh at a time.

"Why do they call you Pronoun The Illiterate Clown?" asks Silly Daddy to a happy-go-lucky clown.

"Do I really have to SPELL it out for you?" asks the clown.

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Vectorsoft Draw program.

I'm pretty sure in all my years drawing comics, this is the first time I have ever included a clown in the story. File this under "Silly Daddy gets challenged by a clown."

Silly Daddy Plays with a Very Full Deck

Silly Daddy Plays with a Very Full Deck - webcomic by ChiappettaThe Purple Pride Monster fans out a hand of cards to reveal 5 aces and declares, "Me likes playing with full deck."

In honor of National Poetry Day, I wrote a very deep purple poem about the character in this strip:

Purple Pride Monster--he's not pink!
Purple Pride Monster, at cards, he stink!

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Conduits Pocket Artist program.

If you don't get this joke, ask someone who plays cards what is wrong with this picture.

Olympic Tryouts for Silly Daddy

Olympic Tryouts for Silly Daddy - webcomic by Chiappetta
If you read only one webcomic about the Olympics this sports season, it definitely should be this one, champ.

"Can I try out for the Olympics in seven years?" asked a boy to his Silly Daddy at the dinner table.

"Not if you don't finish your salad!" replied the father.

This family comic was drawn on the morning just before the announcement was made as to whether or not Chicago would be the host city for the 2016 Olympics. Of course, Chicago didn't get the Olympics, but I think this comic is still gold medal funny, or at least bronze.

Webcomic drawn by Joe Chiappetta 2009 on HP iPAQ Pocket PC running Windows Mobile, in Conduits Pocket Artist program. While coloring this cartoon, I almost used a simple pallet of mixed greens, but I decided against it.

Chicago Gets Flu, Not Olympics

Catch the Olympic Fever - Silly Daddy webcomic by Chiappetta
In celebration of Chicago almost being awarded the host city for the 2016 Olympics, a young boy athlete and his father immediately get to work. "Step closer Dad," said the boy to his father. "Other than the flu, you haven't had much practice catching anything!"

Webcomic drawn on HP iPAQ Pocket PC and edited in Adobe Illustrator, all while carrying the Olympic torch. This comic features former body builder Nino Chiappetta, the brother of Silly Daddy, and his son.
