Silly Daddy on Weight Watchers

Silly Daddy on Weight Watchers comic by Joe Chiappetta
"We're giving away free fruit snacks to encourage people to join Weight Watchers," says a woman promoting the Weight Watchers program at an outdoor festival in Chicago.

My wife takes these candy fruit snacks, eats them without hesitation and says, "Hey, these taste pretty good. I could be on Weight Watchers!"

After I drew this comic, my wife reminded me that at the time, she was also carrying a big cup of ice cream in her other hand. This would make the incident even funnier.

You're trying very hard, but these comics are something awful.

Hi Joe! I think your web comic is great! It's funny, thought provoking and drawn so well it's worthy of framing. But, I also wrote to let you know that judging from the previous two comments your comics have also caught the attention of the posters from www.somethingawful.com.

Don't listen to them!

They refer to themselves as 'the goons' and exist only to insult everything they find on the internet, no matter how good it is, from the comfort of their basements.

Unwarranted positive praise is often more harmful than unwarranted negativity.

People who receive criticism will work harder to be better; people who are placated with niceties will accept an unrealistic view of where their work stands. Joe, turn the other cheek, but only in order to see where to set your pencil down. This is not your strong suit.

That entire argument fails when the object in question is actually praiseworthy.

Go bash something else.

"...when the object in question is actually praiseworthy."

He/She wasn't bashing anything; just being realistic. The effort is commendable but the results are not.

Wait...are you Joe, but in crazy internet alter-ego self-defense mode?

Ha, 'Realistic'.

Dress it up all you want, but in the end it's just an opinion. You might not like his comic, many others do. So go away and stop spoiling it for us that do!

Yep, that's my opinion. Or "comment", if you will. Like in the title of this page.

If being rational and honest is considered "dressing it up", just call me Versace. If you can't understand or tolerate conflicting opinions from random jerks then you have no business on the internet.

Sorry but you're the one being judgmental here, bashing the comic and (lol) being 'realistic' and in the same breath dismissing the opinions of others who like it for what it is.

It's ironic that you then trot out 'tolerance' when you show none of it yourself.

Some happy people up in here.

Par-taaaaayyy!

Uh huh, intolerance 'reared its ugly head' all began with you dismissing praise for the comic and declaring it 'unwarranted' as if your opinion had more weight because it was 'realistic'. lol

Also, thanks for tipping your hand, it's obvious you have more of axe to grind with Joe's politics rather than his comics and are bashing them for those reason.

Yeah, keeping it 'realistic'! lol

Tomfoolery wasn't the original poster who offended you, anonymous. I think he was just making a stupid joke. Ignore all of them, they're just being petty children.

Joe, I love your comics. I've been reading them for quite some time and they never fail to make me smile. Thanks.

Is this a comic, or just mundane anecdotes from your own life?
